Are you a nonprofit looking for technical help? Or a techie looking to help a nonprofit? Here are some organizations you should check out:
Developers for Good
Developers for Good is a network of web developers, software engineers, database administrators – any and all technologists who’d like to use their skills for good. We share opportunities to volunteer, learn about social mission businesses, and network with other developers who want to make a difference. We host Open Hours the second Thursday of every month to bring together social-mission organizations, technologists, and aspiring developers looking to learn through projects with social impact. More information is available at http://meetup.developersforgood.org.
Data Without Borders
Data Without Borders seeks to match non-profits in need of data analysis with freelance and pro bono data scientists who can work to help them with data collection, analysis, visualization, or other data insights in the service of humanity. We aim to close the gap between NGOs with data-specific needs and the people who know how to address them through a data scientist exchange, bringing exciting new problems to the data community and helping to solve social, environmental, and community problems alongside non-profits and NGOs. More information is available at http://datawithoutborders.cc.
